Let’s work together to build power in our communities!

There are many ways to get involved, no matter what skills, interests, or resources you have. You can send us a message using the form on this page about any of the things we do. We thrive on feedback, so we welcome suggestions on how to do things better! And if you’re contacting us on behalf of a community organization, please let us know in your message.

A quick note about contact information: we only use your email for communicating within our organization, and will never give it to anyone without your permission. We sometimes use an automated system for sending emails. We don’t send them unless they’re important. If you don’t want to be added to our mailing list, just opt out in the form.

Work with us!

If you’re not sure where you want to plug in, or the listings here don’t quite fit your interests, just let us know and we’ll work to find something that makes sense for you!

The Communications Subcommittee is responsible for content on the Portland Assembly website and social media platforms. Subcommittee members read and respond to emails, ensuring that information gets where it needs to go. This subcommittee also writes to Portland Assembly mailing list subscribers about upcoming events and ways to get plugged in. If you need to get information from point A to point B, get in touch with this subcommittee!

The Logistics Subcommittee is tasked with organizing regular, accessible, and well-equipped events. The committee also defines, then documents, the various processes that make up Portland Assembly. Logistics works to make the where, what, and how of Portland Assembly clearly and widely understood. Get in touch with this subcommittee for support organizing and pulling off an event or action!

The Technology Subcommittee (also called Web) is charged with maintaining online platforms, including the Portland Assembly website, Loomio (used for online decision making), and the Hub (used for document storage and tracking tasks). This subcommittee provides backend support for the website, addresses problems with user experience, and works to improve the online security practices of Portland Assembly organizers. One need not be a computer programmer to work with technology. Just come with ideas and an open mind!

The Education Subcommittee connects Portland Assembly organizers with theoretical and informational materials on anti-oppression, autonomous organizing, social ecology, libertarian municipalism, anti-colonial struggle, anarchism, and much more. This committee organizes reading groups and contributes to programming for Portland Assembly events. If you have information to share, or want to continue learning and unlearning, this is a great committee to get involved with!

This subcommittee raises and manages funds for Portland Assembly’s Spokescouncil, Frontline Communities Council (FCC), Infrastructure Subcommittees, and Neighborhood Action Councils (NACs). By holding benefit events, maintaining a crowdfunding platform, and coordinating various requests for funds throughout the Portland Assembly network, the Fundraising Subcommittee works to provide accountable and responsive support to oppressed and excluded communities.
